Honest Chance TT1:54.1 $94,000 ; a foal of 1973 by Honest Story - Pretty Sight was purchased as a yearling at the Ohio Select Yearling Sale at Sunbury, Ohio by Doug McIntosh for himself and partner Fred Drouillard for $7000.00. A trim, breedy looking colt that showed talent from day one. Racing in the tough Canadian Juvenile circuit at two Honest Chance showed he could race against the best. At Connaught Park he won straight heats defeating the likes of Armbro Omaha. In the fall he took a 1:58.4 TT mark at Lexington.
At three Honest Chance really came forward winning many fast class races and setting track records. In the fall of his three year old year Honest Chance was shipped to Lexington where he stopped the timer in 1:54.1 in a time trial for driver Joe O'Brien. At that time in 1976 it was the third fastest mile ever by a three year old and the ninth fastest mile ever paced by a Standardbred. |
