In the fall of 2005 Doug McIntosh was shopping the Lexington yearling sale. He spotted a colt that caught his attention. A Yankee Paco colt from Worldly Woman. That colt was Packin.

The colt had his Daddies look, his colour and a world champion dam.
Doug waited for the colt to go through the sale, hoping he could afford the handsome colt. The Yankee Pacos’ were not bringing big bucks and Doug made the purchase and brought the big red colt back to Canada.

A month later at the Harrisburg sale Doug was visiting with his long time friend Al Terwilliger of Proteco Harness Products fame. Al was told about the colt and said “I’m in”.
In a couple weeks Al called and said his friend Mark Wamp was also interested.

The colt learned his lessons well, and showed promise. Big and lanky we all new he was a long term project. Towards spring Steve Kuschei emailed to see what was available to purchase. He set up an appointment and came to the farm. Being a new owner he wanted  something that would race reasonably soon. After going over all the stock it was Packin he decided on. Steve had a friend that wanted to participate as well, John Miziolek. Steve and John formed Norman Blackrock Racing.

This finalized the ownership; Doug McIntosh, Norman Blackrock Racing, Al Terwilliger, & Mark Wamp.

Packin trained down to 2:03 at two and was turned out to mature.

This spring the now three year old won his qualifier in 2:03 and began his career at Windsor Raceway. He was a locked in 4th his first start and won his next three in a row.
Other than a bout with the virus mid summer Packin has progressed like a class trotter.

On November 30th 2007 Packin won his 8th race this summer in just 20 starts. Now with a standing of: 8 - 3 - 0 and $68,953, with a record of 1:55.1.

Packin will race about 22 or 23 starts this year at three then rest up for the 2008 racing season. The partnership is patient and believes Packin will continue to mature and improve to make a top calibure trotter. Patience is a virtue and rare in this era of ownership.
